Any input is appreciated.Ĭlick to expand.I believe the expansion issue has been conquered with improved piston designs and the use of newer alloys. Transmissions rebuild costs I know, but I have no clue whatsoever if this is reasonable or over the top considering this isn't exactly my old 5.0 I'm dealing with here. The bottom line he's coming back with including installation is just a tick over $7k. Nothing fancy, no 440 strokers in my near future, but the builder is talking about roller rockers (though I thought Arrington was the only name in the game with the roller rockers and he's not buying from them), a more aggressive cam (off the shelf, I'm going to have him discuss a custom cam with the guys at Modern Mopar), and Silvolite hypereutectic pistons, now I'm not too familiar with Silvolite, but from what I remember about hypereutectic pistons is that there wasn't much advantage in going with them over the stock pistons and honestly I'd rather go forged to have room to grow down the line. Short version she's in the shop for a new engine (rod knock, bearing shrapnel, etc) and after discussing different build options with my builder I realized that all of my previous projects have been off the shelf parts that I assembled at home or direct swaps, I have never had an engine rebuilt before so I'm wondering what is a reasonable price for an engine rebuild.
